| Finally Microsoft has announced that the next
generation applications will run on Windows Vista.
Windows Vista™ (formerly code named Longhorn) is the
next version of Windows desktop OS after Windows XP.
Windows VISTA will also include a wave of new products
- WinFX. A managed-code programming model
- Windows Presentation Foundation (formerly Avalon).
Microsoft’s unified presentation subsystem for
Windows
- Windows Communication Foundation (formerly
Indigo). Microsoft’s next-generation Web services
technology
- Aero. The new Windows Vista design philosophy

Windows Vista™ is
scheduled to launch in the second half of 2006. Microsoft also
says that their are numerous enhancements in Windows Vista,
including better security, graphics and computing over the Web.

and those who want to get a personal experience then you can
download Windows Vista™ Beta 1 from MSDN
subscription site. (2.5 GB image) Since this beta release is
not for the mass, I have decided to wait and watch for some time
before downloading the BETA.

The General option of developers around the world
was that they did not like this new name of Windows; they say it
